Making Plans

Big thanks tonight to Reem Marai, Mahmoud's long suffering wife, who prepared a magnificent spread for the rapidly swelling LRDG Group. Jason Patterniti and Bob Atwater, both key members of The Explores Club in the U.S. were guests of honour here in Maadi tonight. We ate, drank and talked desert, then retired to Mahmoud's map room to discuss details. jason is working with a researcher from a California at some new methods of remote sensing and we have a few things of interest to look at on the western edge of the Gilf el Kebir. Who knows what they are. Maybe an old tyre, or just maybe anew relic. We shall see!

  1. That's a great-looking meal set before you all! It made me think of a passage in 'Seven Pillars of Wisdom' in which TE Lawrence describes a feast in the desert with (I think) King Faisal. On balance, I would rather be sat in those comfy-looking chairs than on a carpet in a tent. And nice to see that Egypt hasn't succumbed to IKEA yet!!!!
